My teaching context

""

I am currently working as Digital Learning Coordinator at CSM. I have worked at CSM for nearly 17 years now, as an administrator. I transitioned to the Digital Learning team after completing a master’s in Digital Media Design. I completed my MA in the first year of the pandemic. This coincided with the college expansion of its digital learning support team. So now, I work with the staff across CSM helping them to implement the digital elements of their courses.

My teaching practice sits within that context. We are responsible for designing and delivering synchronous staff development. We will produce seasonal staff development sessions that we deliver online. Although we do schedule some face-to-face sessions whenever possible. They tend to be single sessions on specific topics as opposed to a series. Often the sessions will be small groups or 1:1. We also create digital content to support staff and students trying to use our platforms. We host these on our learning and teaching website.

I believe it is vital that we deliver an inclusive online environment for our students. However, this is only possible if our colleagues have the appropriate skills and knowledge to implement this. I hope that’s where my role can help to make a differenc.
